The Oscars 2007
| Last night finally brought the much anticipated Oscars to our screens. Here are the winners: Best Picture: The Departed Best Director: Martin Scorsese for The Departed Best Actor: Forrest Whittaker for The Last King of Scotland Best Actress: Helen Mirren for The Queen Best Supporting Actor: Alan Arkin for Little Miss Sunshine Best Supporting Actress: Jennifer Hudson for Dreamgirls There were no great shocks fashion-wise and to be honest no particular dress stood out to me. Reese Witherspoon was my personal favourite in a stunning purple gown, but maybe that's just because I love her anyway. Kirsten Dunst will undoubtedly show up on some worst dressed list for her Oscars attire this year! Catwalk Queen did a fantastic job of live-blogging the event and you'll see all the dresses there. Who was your favourite? ![]() |

Fat Fingers
| Just wanted to give you all the heads up about a nifty site called Fat Fingers where other people's eBay typos save you money! As described on the site 'thousands of items on eBay are listed with descriptions containing spelling mistakes. These items often expire with no bids on them as no-one can find them'. To test it out I typed in Topshop and was pretty surprised to find 13 listings with 'Topshop' spelt Tophsop, Tosphop, Tophop etc...you get the drift. I'm amazed that these sellers can't even spell the most important word on the listing correctly! Ah well, their loss, the buyer's gain. I'd love to hear your feedback - has anyone bought anything cheaply as a result of using the search site? |
The Oscars Gowns that WOW-ed
Yes, it's that time of year again. In a few hours time the Oscars will be kicking off. I'm eagerly awaiting the red carpet entrances to see who the winners and losers in the fashion stakes are this year (my opinions will be aired here tomorrow!). Thought it would be fun to take a look back at some of the successes from previous years. Here are some of my favourite looks...![]() |

Reader Question: Fergie's Chic Dress
| The question (from Debbie): I saw this picture of Fergie at NY FashionWeek 07 and I really, really adore this dress but cannot find out anything about it. Do you have any information on it? B Glam's answer: Fergie is wearing a wool mix mini-dress from Juicy Couture's Couture line. Priced at $1,100 it's not cheap, but it's a classic dress and if you've got the money then it's worth it. Prayer to the Fashion Fairies
Please, fashion fairies, can I be woken up Monday morning, by the sound of the doorbell, to find this chic cropped monochrome Ted Baker jacket on my doorstep wrapped up in a bow? Gee, this is so CUTE!![]() |
I Want to Look Foxy
Sienna Miller's filigree earrings by Foxy Originals are available from ASOS for £30. I really love these and am totally tempted to make the purchase. What's holding me back is my fantastic ability to lose one of every single pair of earrings i've owned within a few weeks of owning them. Most get lost after the first outing. Anyone else have this problem?![]() |

Talk About High Heel
Jennifer Lopez and Gwen Stefani have both been spotted tottering about in the recently released YSL Tribute heels. These are not your average heels - they stand at a staggering 6 inches high! Now that's the kind of height I could do with. Interestingly, both ladies dressed in head to toe black. With shoes like that, who needs colour? What's the betting Katie Holmes won't be buying these... ![]() |

Slogan Tees are Back
| Following on from the success of the House of Holland label, it seems that slogan tees are back with a vengeance. Just when I'd got rid of my last bunch, which have been cluttering up my wardrobe since they rose to new fashion heights during 2003/04, I began spotting slogan tee after slogan tee dotted around the UK high street. Not that i'm bothered, it's not a trend i'll be rushing to follow again. At London Fashion Week on Monday House of Holland got cheeky with new slogans asserting "I'll show you who's boss Kate Moss" and "Let's play naked twister Linda Evangelista". Humourous and attention grabbing for sure, but is it great fashion? If it's a look you like you'll find cheap alternatives at River Island, Topshop and Dorothy Perkins to name just a few.

Christopher Kane at Topshop
The new Christopher Kane collection recently released at Topshop has caused quite a stir amongst bloggers and fashionistas alike. I've actually been a fan of Christopher Kane, the star graduate of the 2006 Central Saint Martin's MA, until now that is. I admired his original sexy designs, which always made great use of vibrant colour.I just don't 'get' what this collaboration has produced. I feel like a name has been stamped on ugly garments of clothing with both parties aware that it will be a sell-out regardless. Press hype = massive sales, when it should be great clothing = massive sales. Susie at Style Bubble, on the other hand, was pretty impressed and you'll see her modelling some of the collection. What are your views? Love it or hate it? ![]() |

Reader Question: Kate Moss in Hunter Boots
| The question (from Evangeline): I am thinking of getting a pair of Hunter wellington boots (I am spending some time among fashionable country types and getting ready for the festival season) and I want the ones which Kate Moss has been seen in around the countryside near her home - do you know which style they are? are they the black ones or the dark olive ones? Are they still 'in'? B Glam's Answer: Kate Moss certainly looked hot hanging out at Glastonbury in her hotpants and boots. Her wellington boots are by Hunter and can be purchased from their UK, European or US web site so wherever you are in the world you've got a great chance of being able to order. There are 8 colours to choose from in the adult range, which is the style Kate was wearing. And yes, they are still in - Hunter is to Wellington Boots, what Christian Louboutin is to high heel shoes. Kate Moss is not the only fashionista to have worn these boots - Gwyneth Paltrow, Lily Cole, Sadie Frost and Stella McCartney have all followed suit. Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt even wore them in the film Mrs Smith! I have it on good authority and it's pretty clear from the photographs that Kate Moss chose hers in BLACK.Send your reader questions to bglam@hotmail.com Important Post: I Want To See Your Street Style! |
Nanette Lepore at Misamu
You must view the new Nanette Lepore collection at Misamu. Nanette Lepore produces garments that are ultra-feminine and perfectly tailored. Loved by a multitude of Hollywood celebs, Sarah Jessica Parker and Eva Longoria to name just two, these are the kind of clothes that instantly make you feel amazing. It's no wonder that the stylists on The OC regularly dressed Mischa Barton (Marissa) and currently Rachel Bilson (Summer) and Autumn Reeser (Taylor) in Nanette Lepore. Misamu is offering B Glam readers 20% off any purchase. Use the code BGLAM at checkout. I'm also excited to hear that iconic US footwear brand Keds have announced a collaboration with Nanette Lepore for Spring 2007. Mischa Barton will sport a complete Nanette Lepore look in Keds' Spring 2007 ad campaign, wearing shoes from the collection with garments from Nanette's ready-to-wear line. It will be interesting to see which pieces Mischa wears. Click to shop: ![]() Important Post: I Want to See Your Street Style |
